Full job description

The Activities Co-Ordinator is responsible for planning, organising and delivering a varied programme of meaningful, engaging and person-centred activities that enhance the wellbeing, independence and quality of life of residents. The role involves creating a stimulating environment, encouraging participation, and ensuring activities reflect residents' individual interests, abilities and preferences.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, organise and deliver a diverse programme of daily in-house activities that are enjoyable, stimulating and appropriate for residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
- Develop activities that promote social interaction, independence, physical wellbeing, emotional health and cognitive stimulation.
- Encourage and motivate residents to participate whilst respecting their individual choices and preferences.
- Work closely with care staff to promote engagement throughout the day, encouraging all team members to incorporate meaningful activity into everyday care rather than relying solely on scheduled sessions.
- Build positive relationships with residents, relatives, volunteers and the wider community to enhance the activities programme.
- Organise and lead outings and community-based activities, ensuring thorough planning, appropriate staffing, transport arrangements and individual risk assessments are completed.
- Demonstrate excellent planning, organisational skills and enthusiasm to deliver successful trips and events safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of activities delivered, resident participation and outcomes.
- Celebrate seasonal events, birthdays and special occasions, ensuring residents have opportunities to remain connected with their community and interests.
- Source new ideas, resources and community links to continually improve the activities programme.
- Work within all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, infection prevention and manual handling procedures.

Person Specification

Essential

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, enthusiastic and energetic approach to engaging older adults.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to motivate both residents and colleagues.
- Creative with the ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs.
- Ability to plan and safely coordinate trips and outings.
- Flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

- Previous experience working in a care home, health or social care setting.
- Experience delivering activities for older people, including those living with dementia.
- Full UK driving licence (if required by the service).
- Relevant qualification in health and social care, activities or recreational therapy.
