Job Introduction

We currently have a full time 37 Hours opportunity for a Team Manager. You will be supporting a team of community resources workers working with parents in pre-proceedings where domestic abuse is a concern and there have a child either under one or who are expecting a baby.

The Born into Care research revealed a concerning rise in newborns entering care proceedings, with cases in England and Wales increasing. Also, troubling were statistics showing that in 2019/20, 86.3% of newborn cases in England and 74.8% in Wales involved short-notice hearings.

A significant proportion of these parents were also in care as children. Broadhurst et al. (2017) found that 40% of mothers experiencing recurrent care proceedings had looked after status as children. This gives the state an additional moral and ethical responsibility towards these parents, as corporate parent and grandparent.

These patterns reflect a growing need for holistic, multi-agency, ‘personalised’ support for parents who experience separation from their children to help them make lasting changes and build more positive futures for themselves and their families, whether or whether not they are able to care for their children themselves

You will deliver a planned and focused intensive intervention utilising trauma informed approaches to coordinate and ensure delivery of individualised support packages to help parents to build strength, resilience, overcome challenges, gain confidence and acquire the personal and social assets to move forwards in their lives to become safer adults and parents.

The role will require you to support work directly with parents and building relationships and trust with. This really is a hands on role and at the frontline of ensuring that every child has the best start in life.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a team of 6 community resources workers.
Supporting community resources workers to help and support families and reduce risk
Offering reflective supervision to workers, both child focused and personal
Supporting progression of your workers and tackling performance issues when needed.
Performance monitoring of your team through audit activity, reflective group supervision and quality assurance activity.
Undertake audit activity and disseminate identified learning.
Undertake practice development projects with those who use our services, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Attendance at relevant partner agency meetings and service manager meetings.
Implementing and supporting change within the team and offering a supportive and nurturing leadership style
Chairing multi-agency meetings and making decisions linked to a thorough understanding of safeguarding thresholds.

About You

Hold a DIPSW or equivalent qualification and are registered with the Social Work England as a qualified social worker, with at least four years post qualifying experience.
Be registered with Social Work England (Formerly HCPC) as a qualified Social Worker
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experienced and expert in managing the delivery of quality outcomes for children and young people.
An ability to build strong relationships with children, their families, colleagues and partner agencies.
Passionate about the development of others
Embrace change and strive for excellent practice placing children and young people at the heart of decision making; you have experience of tackling the most complex needs with enthusiasm, drive, and determination.
An experience and understanding of relevant statutory and legal requirements to safeguard children and young people
