As our business continues to expand, effective transport coordination has never been more important. Our Transport team plays a critical role in ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and customer service.
We are currently seeking a proactive and organised Transport Co-ordinator to join our Transport team. This is a hands-on position responsible for coordinating an assigned driver group, managing transport administration and compliance, supporting driver performance, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our distribution network.
Working closely with drivers, management, and customers, you'll play a key role in maintaining service levels, managing people-related activities, monitoring transport compliance, and supporting operational efficiencies across the department. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Purpose of Role
You will be responsible for coordinating an assigned group of drivers, ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently, maintaining transport compliance standards, and supporting day-to-day transport operations. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Coordinate and support a designated team of drivers.
- Manage holiday requests, shift allocation, and absence management.
- Conduct return-to-work meetings and other people management activities.
- Provide route cover when required due to holidays, sickness, or operational needs.
- Ensure transport documentation, delivery notes, PODs, vehicle inspections, and defect reports are completed accurately.
- Monitor vehicle compliance, cleanliness, maintenance reporting, and refuelling standards.
- Conduct driver and vehicle audits to ensure company procedures are followed.
- Ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements.
- Manage the collection and return of transport equipment, including baskets and wheels.
- Support digital tachograph card download compliance.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene, food safety, and housekeeping across transport operations.
- Work closely with management to communicate operational updates and business requirements.
Management
- Ensure all staff members adhere to all Company procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety and Quality Policies.
- Ensure the team is comprehensively supporting activities with appropriate documentation and data input.
Communication
- Communicate with the Managers on issues involving quality and hygiene.
- Effectively communicate to team member’s business developments, procedures and requirements and ensure they are clearly understood.
Training
- To undertake training as required to update knowledge and experience and/or according to industry and business needs.
Maintenance
- Ensure that any equipment that fails to produce the quality/hygiene standards is identified and maintained in line with Company procedures.
- Ensure that all equipment settings adhere to Company procedures.
Quality
- Ensure all products leaving the factory comply with the standards laid down by the Company.
Hygiene
- Ensure area of work or vehicle is maintained in a hygienic manner.
- Adhere to all hygiene policies and procedures.
- Complete all documentation required for the Company Hygiene Procedures.
- Carryout shift hygiene risk assessments.
Cleanliness
- Ensuring that all working practices are in line with the Company procedures.
- Monitor the cleanliness of the distribution area and vehicles.
Health & Safety
- Ensure the compliance to all Company Health and Safety Procedures.
- Ensure the adherence to Statutory Regulations and Legislation that affect the production of food.
Food Safety
- Ensure all activities in the area are carried out in accordance with Food Safety Procedures.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping adopting the ‘clean as you go’ approach.
Key Skills & Accountabilities
- Class 1 licence.

- Previous experience in transport coordination, logistics, or fleet operations.
- Experience managing drivers or transport teams.
- Knowledge of tachograph and transport compliance requirements.
