Job Title: Dog Day Care Assistant
Location: Crazy Tails – The Retreat- HAREFIELD
Hours: Flexible 20 hours per week on a rota system (shifts between 7:00am – 7:00pm weekdays 8am-6pm weekends)

Role Overview:
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hands-on team member to support our team on our busiest days. This is a physically active role involving direct care of dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, under the supervision of the management team. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions, to ensure the safety, happiness, and well-being of every dog in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with dogs in daycare and boarding areas, ensuring safe play and positive interactions.
- Walk dogs individually or in small groups, maintaining control and safety at all times.
- Feed dogs according to individual dietary needs and owner instructions, ensuring fresh water is always available.
- Monitor dog behaviour, health, and welfare, reporting any concerns to the management team.
- Clean and sanitise play areas, kennels, equipment, and feeding stations to maintain high hygiene standards.
- Support enrichment activities, games, and training exercises to provide mental stimulation for dogs.
- Follow all safety procedures and handling protocols to prevent injury or escape.
- Assist with drop-off and collection of dogs, providing a friendly and professional welcome to clients.
- Maintain accurate records, including feeding, walking, behaviour, and incident logs.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with dogs in a professional setting (day care, boarding, rescue, or training) is essential.
- Confident and capable in handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
- Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods, including lifting and handling dogs when required.
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
- Flexible with working hours – able to work varying shifts on a rota basis, with plenty of notice given.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to providing the highest standard of care.
Hours & Rota:
- Shifts are between 7:00am – 7:00pm, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
- Around 20 hours per week, primarily covering our busiest days.
- Flexibility is essential, although schedules are planned in advance to ensure work-life balance.
