Rent Management Team Leader

We’re now looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Income Team as a Rent Management Team Leader
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and develop a team of Rent Management Officers, while also taking ownership of complex and high‑risk arrears cases.
In this role, you will:
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and support to a team of Rent Management Officers, ensuring a high‑quality, customer‑focused service
- Support the team with complex arrears cases & preparation of legal documentation, working closely with Legal Services to achieve successful court outcomes
- Where appropriate, accompany and support officers at court, enabling them to present cases confidently and professionally.
- Drive early intervention and proactive income management, ensuring cases are escalated appropriately
- Oversee performance, case quality, and compliance with policies and legal requirements
- Support training and development of team members, building confidence in legal processes and court preparation
- Promote strong partnership working with internal teams and external agencies to support tenancy sustainment

About you
To be successful, you’ll be/have:
- Have strong experience in housing income management, including managing rent arrears and court processes
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits, and arrears recovery practices
- Have experience preparing and presenting possession cases in court
- Be a confident leader with the ability to manage workloads, support staff, and drive performance
- Be an excellent communicator, able to engage effectively with customers, colleagues, and partners
- Be organised, proactive, and able to manage complex and sensitive cases with professionalism
A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or significant relevant experience is required.

Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent.

Base: Hybrid working - working from office, home, site and in the community as needed. Your base will be our main office in Chy Trevail, Bodmin, PL31 2FR. This role requires you to typically work from the office at least 1 day per week.

- Experience progressing possession cases for rent arrears through the county court, including preparing documentation and presenting cases.
- A sound understanding of housing law and related legislation, with the confidence to attend court and respond to challenges during proceedings.
