The Role

We’re expanding and looking for an experienced Audit Senior to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to lead, develop our audit offering, and help build a strong, future-ready audit team.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with planning, fieldwork and completion of statutory audits, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget
Prepare audit planning documentation, including risk assessments, materiality calculations, and audit strategies
Supervise, coach, and review the work of junior audit staff and trainees in the field
Complete audit fieldwork across key areas (revenue, debtors, creditors, fixed assets, stock, cash, provisions, and going concern)
Prepare statutory financial statements under FRS 102 (and FRS 105 where relevant), ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and the Companies Act 2006
Identify and resolve technical accounting and auditing issues, escalating to the Manager/Partner where appropriate
Assist in drafting management letters and communicating audit findings, control weaknesses, and recommendations to clients.
Liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process, building strong working relationships
Ensure audit files are completed in line with the firm's methodology and International Standards on Auditing (UK) (ISAs)
Keep the Audit Manager informed of job progress, budgets, and any issues arising
Support the Manager/Partner with ad hoc advisory, accounts preparation, or corporate tax work as required
Undertake study and CPD in line with ACA/ACCA training requirements (where applicable)
Keep up to date with changes in auditing standards, FRS 102, and other relevant UK GAAP/regulatory developments

Person Specification

Qualifications

ACA or ACCA newly qualified, or actively studying towards ACA/ACCA

Experience

Minimum 3 years' external audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice
Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff
Sound working knowledge of FRS 102 including its practical application to statutory accounts preparation
Experience of preparing financial statements under FRS102, and corporation tax returns with minimal assistance
Familiarity with International Standards on Auditing (UK) (ISAs) would be beneficial
Exposure to a variety of client sectors and turnover sizes advantageous

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, particularly FRS 102 (and ideally FRS 105 for micro-entities)
Understanding of the Companies Act 2006 reporting requirements
A good understanding of corporation tax
Competent using audit software and methodology (e.g. Inflo, PCAS) and accounting/practice software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS)
Strong Excel skills

Personal Attributes

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence liaising directly with clients
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines simultaneously
A methodical, analytical approach with good attention to detail
A proactive, team-oriented attitude with an interest in coaching and developing junior staff
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites (where applicable)
