BES Steel Buildings is looking for an experienced Industrial Roof Coatings Airless Spray Applicator to join our expanding commercial refurbishment division.
We specialise in the refurbishment of commercial and industrial roofs using high-performance coating systems and are looking for someone who can take complete ownership of the spraying operation.
This is not a decorating role. We are looking for an experienced industrial coatings applicator with a proven track record of spraying high-build roof coating systems using professional airless equipment.
The Role
Working alongside our preparation teams, you will be responsible for:
- Applying industrial roof coating systems to commercial and industrial buildings.
- Setting up and operating professional airless spray equipment.
- Achieving the correct wet and dry film thickness.
- Producing a consistent, high-quality finish.
- Cleaning, flushing and maintaining spray equipment daily.
- Diagnosing spray issues and carrying out routine maintenance.
- Working safely at height as part of a professional roofing refurbishment team.
Experience Required
Applicants should have experience spraying products such as:
- Giromax Roofcoat systems
- High-build acrylic roof coatings
- Elastomeric roof coatings
- Polyurethane protective coatings
- Industrial protective coatings from manufacturers including:
- Giromax
- Tor Coatings
- Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine
- Rust-Oleum Industrial
- PPG Protective Coatings
- Sika
Experience with Giromax products would be highly advantageous, although applicants with experience using equivalent industrial roof coating systems are encouraged to apply.
Equipment Experience
Applicants should be confident operating heavy-duty professional airless spray equipment, including machines such as:
- Graco Mark V
- Graco Mark VII
- Graco Ultra Max II
- Graco DutyMax
- Graco King
- Wagner HeavyCoat (HC) Series
- Or equivalent professional airless spray systems.
You should be capable of:
- Selecting the correct spray tips.
- Setting pressures correctly for different coating viscosities.
- Diagnosing blockages and spray faults.
- Replacing tips, filters and packings.
- Thoroughly cleaning pumps, hoses and guns at the end of each shift.
- Maintaining equipment to minimise downtime on busy commercial sites.
Equipment
Preference will be given to applicants who own and regularly operate their own professional airless spray machine.
Applicants supplying their own equipment should be responsible for its servicing, maintenance and transport, ensuring it remains reliable and site-ready at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Proven industrial airless spraying experience.
- Comfortable working at height.
- CSCS Card.
- IPAF preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Reliable, professional and safety conscious.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively as part of a commercial site team.
Contract
We are looking for someone to start immediately on an initial three-week contract.
However, BES Steel Buildings has already secured additional refurbishment projects of a similar nature, meaning there is a real opportunity for the successful applicant to continue onto a further 3–6 months of work as additional projects commence.
Pay
£300–£400 per day, depending on experience and whether professional spray equipment is supplied.
Location
Commercial and industrial projects throughout South Wales, with occasional work in neighbouring areas.
