Full job description

About the role:
To provide specialist advice on ecology and biodiversity matters relevant to the planning service.
About you:
1. Significant experience of biodiversity matters relevant to planning.
2. Degree or equivalent in biodiversity, ecology or a related subject.
3. Commitment to delivering a high quality of customer care.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Good interpersonal skills and to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team
What you will do:
1. To provide professional advice on biodiversity assisting in the fulfilment of Powys County Council’s legal obligations relating to biodiversity.
2. To take the lead on specific planning policy topic areas relating to biodiversity matters. This is to include:

Undertaking research and evidence gathering.
Analysis of findings.
Policy drafting.
Appraisal and assessment of policies.

3. To provide professional advice / training on biodiversity matters to Planning Officers, Planning Agents /Applicants, Councillors and the Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee.
4. To undertake when appropriate, EIA screening and give EIA scoping opinions formally on behalf of the authority.
5. To undertake biodiversity assessments relevant to the planning process, including HRA assessments.

Service: Planning and Regulatory Services

Salary: Grade 10 Point 27 to Point 29 £38,220 to £39,862 per annum £19.81 to £20.66 per hour
