We are seeking a caring, responsible and committed House Parent to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for our international students living at Zenith accommodation.
Working Arrangements
This is a residential role which requires regular evening and weekend duties as well as availability to respond to student welfare needs and emergencies. Working arrangements will be organised on a planned basis, with appropriate rest periods, in line with Working Time Regulations.
Under the direction of College management and the International Manager, you will act in loco parentis for students under the age of 18, prioritising their wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development while creating a positive “home from home” experience.
About the Role
As House Parent, you will play a vital role in students’ daily lives, ensuring their safety, welfare and adherence to college and residence expectations. You will work closely with the College Safeguarding Team and wider staff to monitor wellbeing, manage behaviour, and respond appropriately to any concerns or emergencies.
The role includes regular face-to-face welfare checks in the evenings and at weekends, promoting positive mental health, maintaining clear boundaries, and ensuring safeguarding and health & safety procedures are always followed.
Key Responsibilities
Act in loco parentis for students under 18, prioritising safeguarding and wellbeing

Carry out daily welfare and curfew checks, including evenings and weekends
- Monitor student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and adherence to accommodation rules
- Record, report and escalate safeguarding or welfare concerns in line with College procedures
- Liaise with parents/guardians, college teams and out-of-hours safeguarding contacts
- Respond to emergencies, including escorting students to hospital when required
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and a supportive residential environment
- Maintain accurate records and professional boundaries at all times
What We’re Looking For
You will be calm, adaptable and able to make sound judgements, particularly in challenging or sensitive situations. You’ll be confident working independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues across the College.

Accommodation: Free on-site accommodation provided at Zenith
- Availability: Up to 10 non-working days per annum, with limited concurrent leave
- The post requires flexibility to meet the needs of students, including evening and weekend duties
