Bryn Edwin Hall is a residential care home, specialising in Dementia and dedicated to providing compassionate and personalised care for our residents. Our team is committed to creating a n engaging environment that promotes the well-being and dignity of every individual. Our activities team work closely with the family and care staff to create person centred care to allow each resident to feel at home.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and creative university or college graduate to join our team of Activity Coordinators. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving the quality of life for our residents through engaging and meaningful activities tailored to their interests and abilities. We aim to build and develop a Day Centre to promote a positive outlook on living with dementia. You will work closely with our care team to develop and implement a variety of programs, events and clubs that stimulate cognitive function, enhance social interaction and promote physical activity. We participate in research projects in partnership with universities to gain a greater understanding of providing our residents with the highest standard of person-centred care. You will be expected to implement best practices and innovations in dementia care and activity programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Activity Coordinators are expected to plan and organise a diverse range of activities and programs for residents with dementia. We have a weekly schedule that allow residents the opportunity to participate in clubs such as armchair exercise, virtual travel tours, hairdresser and salon days, trips to the sweet shop, GFitness club, Zumba dancing, outings into the local community, gardening club, Bryn Edwin Choir and Bryn Edwin Baking club.
- You will be expected to coordinate with external providers to plan an engaging weekly schedule with appropriate activities and events. Build connections between our residents and the local community.
- Coordinate special events and celebrations, including holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.
- Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to meet varying levels of cognitive and physical abilities.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages socialisation and engagement.
- Assess residents' interests and abilities to create individualised activity plans.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are integrated into residents' daily routines.
- Maintain records of activities, participation and resident feedback using the PCS system.
- Train and supervise volunteers and activity assistants.
- Stay informed about best practices and innovations in dementia care and activity programming.
Skills required
- Applicants must have a minimum of a university undergraduate qualification or college diploma
- Be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Strong understanding of how to adapt activities to meet varying levels of cognitive and physical abilities would be preferred.
- Strong understanding of dementia and the challenges faced by those living with the condition would be preferred.
- Creative, energetic, and compassionate with a genuine interest in working with elderly individuals.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail.
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
