Join Our Team as a Youth Participation Worker (Part-Time)
Are you passionate about empowering young people? Do you bring energy, creativity, and a sense of fun to everything you do? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Participation Worker to play a key role in shaping and championing Youth Voice across Knowsley. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire young people aged 11–19 (up to 25 with SEND) and ensure their voices are heard loud and clear in the decisions that affect their lives.
About the Role
As our Youth Participation Worker, you’ll bring youth voice to life by delivering engaging, interactive sessions with the Knowsley Youth Cabinet, helping young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and influence real change. You will:
- Lead fun, dynamic, and meaningful youth voice sessions.
- Co-design and deliver an innovative Participation programme grounded in the Lundy Model of Participation.
- Support young people to influence local decision-making by supporting their attendance to meetings with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
- Develop Youth Ambassador programmes and promote exciting social action projects.
- Work alongside youth voice platforms and community leaders to amplify young people’s impact.
This role goes beyond the borough too! You’ll have opportunities to support young people at regional and national youth voice events, including residentials and trips to the Houses of Parliament in London. Some evening and weekend work will be part of the adventure.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has experience working with young people (youth work qualification desirable, or similar).
- Holds a relevant qualification at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a subject related to young people.
- Understands the Lundy Model of Participation and how to apply it in practice.
- Is passionate about inclusion, particularly engaging underrepresented and hard-to-reach young people.
- Brings positivity, innovation, and a genuine commitment to youth empowerment.
If you love seeing young people grow in confidence and step into leadership, this role is for you.

- A supportive and collaborative working environment where your ideas are valued
