5-Axis CNC Miller – Fanuc & Hurco

The Role
We are looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller to join our machining team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist/programmer with strong 5-axis experience who is confident working with Fanuc and Hurco controls.
You will be responsible for setting, operating and programming complex 5-axis CNC milling machines, producing high-quality, close-tolerance components from engineering drawings and CAM-generated programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision components.
- Program and edit CNC programs using Fanuc and Hurco controls.
- Generate and optimise machining programs using Edgecam and Fusion 360.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding and machining strategies.
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Work to tight tolerances and maintain consistently high standards of workmanship.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling and programming issues.
- Optimise cycle times, tooling and machining processes where appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to specification.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience as a 5-axis CNC Miller.
- Strong experience setting and operating complex CNC milling machinery.
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Hurco controls.
- Experience programming using Edgecam and/or Fusion 360.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, workholding and machining techniques.
- Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards.
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of machining projects.
A formal engineering qualification or apprenticeship would be advantageous, but relevant practical experience will be considered.
