Gifford's Recycling Limited are currently looking for an experienced Saw Operator to join our wood reprocessing company based in West Bromwich.
The Saw Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of saws to cut wood. This position requires a person who is physically fit and has the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate should have a good aptitude and enjoy working with wood.
Job Requirements
- Position the pallets to ensure safe system of work
- Capable of reading measurements
- Determining the appropriate cutting method, including manual sawing with a hand saw and other saws
- Count, sort, and stacks finished product and disposes of waste material in the correct way
- Clean and lubricate the saw to ensure efficient work operations
- Monitoring and maintaining machines in good working condition to ensure safety
- Exercising caution to avoid accidents while operating power equipment
- Following safety procedures to ensure that accidents do not occur
Experience
- Experience within a production environment as a Saw Operator would be beneficial however other manufacturing backgrounds will be considered
- 2-3 years experience is desirable for this role
- Must have experience using Chop Saw, Trim Track Saw, Cross Cut Saw
- Able to comfortably use saws to cut pallets and adhere to all Health & Safety precautions
- Must have the ability to work in all weather conditions (hot and cold)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Degree of flexibility will be required for this role - overtime required throughout busy periods
- Good communication skills will be required for this role
