Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children in a nursery setting, ensuring all food safety standards are met. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of young children through healthy meal provision. The Nursery Cook will work closely with nursery staff to plan and execute meal services that cater to the dietary needs of children, fostering a safe and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nursery policies.
Plan weekly menus that meet nutritional standards while accommodating special dietary requirements.
Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in compliance with food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure continuous availability.
Assist in serving meals to children in a friendly and hygienic manner, promoting positive eating habits.
Record food temperatures and maintain accurate documentation related to food safety procedures.
Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure meals are served at appropriate times and accommodate any specific needs or allergies.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within a childcare or nursery environment.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices relevant to food handling for young children.
Culinary experience with meal preparation tailored to children's nutritional needs.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is desirable but not essential.
Flexibility to adapt menus based on dietary requirements or special occasions. This role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about providing healthy meals for children within a supportive nursery environment.

Pay: £12.71-£14.22 per hour
