We are looking to recruit an Apprentice IT Technician to join our team here at TKAT on a fixed term basis. Working closely with the regional IT manager, you will have a key role as part of a regional team to support our schools within the Essex Region. This role is based at Debden Park High School, with occasional travel to other schools in Essex.
The successful Apprentice IT Technician will be jointly responsible for supporting the maintenance and administration of the schools’ computer networks, along with working closely with users of our network to identify potential issues and fix any existing problems.
The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding and previous experience of network infrastructure and network hardware. The standard of the apprenticeship is ‘Information Communications Technician Level 3’.
Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract position as the total length of the Apprenticeship including EPA (subject to working hours and reasonable adjustment) is 17 - 19 months and anyone with an IT degree (Level 3) OR 6 months+ of IT work experience will not be eligible for the programme due to the entry level of the apprenticeship.

The Apprentice IT Technician contribute and continue the great progress already made within this area of the trust, the key responsibilities include:
- Assist in monitoring the service desk for IT issues, by reviewing incoming tickets, and monitor progress
- Following the policies for compliance with the organisation obligations (including legislation, regulatory, contractual and agreed standards/policies)
- Help feedback to the IT Manager and wider team in any areas relating to IT Strategy
- Escalate to the Head of IT any data/cyber security breaches they are made aware of
- Work closely with the central IT team for the on-going development and support of the Trust's Google environment and other IT systems
- Monitor service desk for IT issues, by reviewing incoming tickets, and monitor progress.
- Assist the IT Manager in Project managing changes within their sites and liaise with external contractors to ensure successful delivery.
- Identify patterns in requests and/or service requests, where further training or changes to systems are required
The ideal Apprentice IT Technician will be someone who is/has:
- Experienced in administering networks, reviewing system logs, backup/AV checks and general updates
- High professional and personal standards in both work and conduct.
- Able to make sound judgments and decisions.
- Strong personal drive and willingness to get things done.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member, but also having self-motivation when working independently.
- Able to convey technical problems to non-technical staff.
