The Position
We’re looking for a Casual Grounds Person to help maintain our world-class pitches to the highest standards.
You’ll be part of a passionate team that takes pride in making sure our grounds are always looking their best. It’s a hands-on role, so you’ll need to be flexible, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in turf care, especially in a sporting environment.

Requirements
What you’ll do
-
Ensuring the Club’s playing surfaces are maintained and presented to the highest possible standards using the latest turfcare machinery, equipment, and techniques.
- Match day duties: setting up practice facilities/fielding nets, positioning boundary rope, setting out fielding discs, positioning sightscreens, setting up advertising boards, sweeping wicket at interval, repairing foot holes, re-marking wicket.
- All aspects of cricket ground preparation and renovation including deploying rain covers, mowing, marking out, and the operation of pedestrian and tractor mounted machinery.

Work with our team of groundstaff enabling the smooth running of matchdays and non-matchdays.
- Tidying and litter picking.

Strimming and hedge cutting.

Routine maintenance of turfcare machinery.

Maintain health and safety in the workplace and comply with company procedures and guidelines.

All other duties consistent with grounds preparation at an industry leading sporting venue.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Commitment to delivering work of the highest standard with attention to detail and pride in presentation.

Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Flexible and proactive approach to working hours, including availability for evenings and weekends in line with the demands of the cricket season.

Genuine passion for sport, with a clear understanding of the operational requirements of cricket fixtures and seasonal demands.

Good turf skills and ideally some experience of preparing a cricket wicket.
- Good all horticultural knowledge.

Turf science qualification or equivalent desirable but not essential.

Ability to carry out basic maintenance on equipment.

Spraying qualification desirable.
