We are working with a school who required a level 2 Teaching Assistant to work with learners within KS3 & KS4 who have additional needs, one learner who you would be assigned to is non-verbal and English is not their first language. Other students have additional needs such as Autism and ADHD. The role would suit a KS2 Teaching Assistant due to the level that the students are currently working towards.
The role involves working closely with children and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in education and child development, with experience or interest in working with children with autism and disabilities. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in special education and contribute meaningfully to children's growth and development. The role is to start in September 2026.
Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans and educational activities across various subjects
- Support children with autism, disabilities, or behavioural challenges to ensure they participate fully in class activities
- Provide one-on-one support for children requiring additional assistance, including learners from KS3 & KS4.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support with behavioural management strategies and social skills development
- Assist in organising classroom materials and resources for daily activities
- Engage children in educational games, play, and learning exercises tailored to their individual needs
- Communicate effectively with children, teachers, parents, and other staff to promote positive educational experiences
Skills
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities
- Knowledge of working with individuals on the autism spectrum is highly desirable
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt approaches for diverse learners
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
- Compassionate attitude and patience when supporting children with behavioural or developmental challenges
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Experience in early childhood education is advantageous but not essential
- Experience in moving and handling is advantageous, along with a team teach certificate - but not essential
