Salary: NHS Specialty Doctor Pay Scale 2026 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 3 days per week (Mondays or Tuesdays, plus Thursdays and Fridays) – 6 PAs
On-call: Participation in a 1:4 on-call rota (details discussed at interview)
Total PA Paid : 7.87 PAs + 8 % FTE

St Rocco's Hospice is an independent charitable organisation providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to the people of Warrington and surrounding areas. Located close to Warrington Hospital, we work in close partnership with North Cheshire & Mersey NHS Foundation Trust and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across multiple settings.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our experienced multidisciplinary team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in palliative medicine within a supportive, forward-thinking organisation that is committed to innovation, education, and service development.

About the Role
The successful candidate will provide specialist palliative care across our hospice services, contributing to high-quality clinical care, multidisciplinary working, education, and service improvement.
You will gain experience within a diverse portfolio of services, including:
- A 10-bed Specialist Inpatient Unit
- Community-based specialist palliative care services
- The St Rocco's Palliative Care Hub
- Our innovative Palliative Virtual Ward (PVW)
- The Vitality Centre
- Outpatient and therapy services
- Education and training programmes
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in emerging models of care, including digital innovation and virtual ward development.
Our Medical Team
You will join a friendly and highly supportive medical team consisting of:
- 1 Full-Time Consultant in Palliative Medicine/Medical Director
- 2 Part-Time Specialty Doctors
- 3 GP Specialty Trainees
- 1 Full-Time Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Eligibility
- Full GMC registration, a licence to practice and at least 5 years full-time postgraduate training 2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities (or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies
- Minimum 6 months NHS experience working as a doctor in a medical specialty
