Full job description

Overview

As the Purchasing Manager for Harbury Catch, you will be responsible for the strategic sourcing and supply chain integrity of our high-volume, £1M+ turnover operations. You will leverage your advanced knowledge in logistics to optimize our procurement of premium seafood and raw materials, ensuring maximum quality at sustainable margins.

Duties

Identify and vet premium seafood suppliers, negotiating long-term contracts to secure stable pricing and supply for a high-volume (£20k/week) operation.
Supply Chain Optimization: Apply master’s-level logistics principles to streamline the flow of perishable goods, minimizing lead times and reducing environmental impact.
Manage an annual procurement budget of approximately £350k–£400k.
Conduct rigorous cost-benefit analysis and "make vs. buy" evaluations for all raw materials.Inventory
Implement advanced inventory management systems (JIT/EOQ) to maintain the delicate balance of fresh stock for 60 covers while hitting aggressive zero-waste targets.
Audit the supply chain for food safety standards, sustainability certifications (MSC), and UK traceability regulations.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local fishermen and international wholesalers to ensure Harbury Catch maintains its "latest and greatest" reputation.
Ensure all purchased products meet business quality standards.
Negotiate prices, rebates, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Monitor supplier performance on:
Quality
Delivery reliability
Pricing consistency
Compliance standards

Skills

Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
In-depth knowledge of logistics operations and supply chain processes.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise confidently with internal teams and external suppliers.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional eager to drive procurement excellence within a dynamic organisation while leveraging advanced ERP platforms and strategic negotiation techniques.

Pay: £35,000.00-£59,568.60 per year
