We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Die Maintenance Technician to join our Tooling Department. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations by maintaining, repairing, modifying and optimising injection moulding tooling to ensure maximum performance, efficiency and product quality.
Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance activities, diagnose tooling issues, and implement long-term solutions to improve tooling reliability, performance and efficiency.
This role requires a proactive individual with extensive experience of plastic injection moulding tooling who can work independently, manage priorities effectively and support continuous improvement across the department. Based on the current job description.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on injection moulding tooling.
- Diagnose tooling faults and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Repair, modify and optimise tooling to meet production and quality requirements.
- Perform tool finishing and bedding activities to maintain tooling performance.
- Work with hot runner and manifold systems.
- Carry out welding and fabrication repairs as required.
- Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to support operational targets.
- Prioritise workload effectively in response to changing production requirements.
- Support apprentices and share technical knowledge within the Tool Room.
- Work independently during solo shifts, making informed decisions to minimise downtime and maintain production output.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving tooling performance and reliability.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Time-served Toolmaker, Die Maintenance Technician or similar role within a plastic injection moulding environment.
- Proven experience in the maintenance, repair and modification of mould tooling.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with hot runner/manifold systems.
- Expertise in tool finishing and bedding.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good attention to detail.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with MIG, TIG, Micro TIG or ARC welding.
- Knowledge of precision machining, grinding and polishing techniques.
- Knowledge of PUWER regulations.
- Understanding of safe lifting and slinging practices.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on skills, qualifications and experience), plus shift allowance.
