Teacher of English

Type: Contract / Long-term / Supply (depending on availability)
Location: Various (South Wales & South West opportunities available)
Hours: Full-time (part-time considered), term time only
Salary: Paid to scale (MPS/UPS, dependent on experience)
Start date: 13/04/2026
Essential: QTS, DBS & EWC registration (or willing to apply), UK secondary school experience

Are you passionate about English and inspiring young people through literature, language, and creative expression? Elementa Support Services is working with a range of supportive and forward-thinking secondary schools to recruit enthusiastic and committed Teachers of English. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ academic progress and confidence in communication.

As a Teacher of English, you will:

Deliver engaging and creative English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with the national curriculum
Support students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs
Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
Monitor and report on pupil progress and attainment
Contribute to wider school life and departmental development

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience teaching English in UK secondary schools
Is passionate about raising attainment and inspiring a love of reading and writing
Has strong classroom management and organisational skills
Is adaptable, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive educational practice
Is willing to engage in ongoing professional development

Successful interview
Satisfactory references
Safeguarding & Prevent training
EWC registration in the appropriate categories
DBS Enhanced Disclosure (chargeable at £64.20 unless subscribed to the Update Service)
Successful completion of the 60-day paid trial period
