About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in the printing industry as a Print Technician Apprentice. You will join a supportive and experienced team, working closely with our ink and hardware development specialists to test and validate new products.
As part of your role, you will also support our global network of field-based engineers. This includes assisting with press setup and installation, as well as helping to identify recommended print settings. You will gain hands-on experience with industry tools such as Pre-Press and Colour Management applications, building valuable technical expertise.
Alongside your practical experience, you will study towards a Level 3 Print Technician qualification. This structured apprenticeship programme is designed specifically for the printing industry and provides a strong foundation for a long-term career. There will also be opportunities to continue your development and progress to a Level 6 (degree-level) qualification.
This role offers a fantastic pathway into a specialist technical career, combining hands-on learning with formal qualifications and opportunities for future progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Join the Image Quality team to support testing and validation of new inks, software, and hardware developments
- Assist in designing and running test scenarios to evaluate product performance and capabilities
- Work with suppliers to review and assess new technologies from a technical perspective
- Capture test data and help create reports for internal technical teams
- Provide support to global field engineers, including Pre-Press and Colour Management guidance
- Assist with technical and product-related queries from internal teams
- Help deliver training and guidance on new products, software, and processes
- Contribute to creating technical documentation such as procedures, guides, and bulletins
- Support live product testing at customer (beta) sites
- Help maintain lab equipment, including printing presses, front-end systems, and networks
About you
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your workload and meet agreed deadlines
- Good communication skills, with the confidence to ask questions, seek support, and actively learn
- Able to work flexibly and collaborate with colleagues across different teams and disciplines
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a genuine eagerness to learn, develop new skills, and share knowledge with others
