Full job description

Who are we: We are a non-for-profit organisation who teaches languages to adults with special needs in care homes or day centres and older adults in retirement communities. Recent research shows that speaking a second language can enhance cognitive and mental health and general wellbeing. We therefore use foreign languages as a vehicle to enhance people's lives.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for compassionate, creative and driven speakers of European languages (Spanish. Italian, French or Gaelic preferable) to teach tailored language classes to adults with learning disabilities in a community centre in Irvine.

It is based on a contract driven basis to teach sessions of up to 10 weeks. Each session will be one hour per week. Total teaching will be no more than 3 hours a week. Due to doing outreach projects having a clean driving license and access to a car is highly preferable. Understanding and or experience working with adults with learning disabilities would be preferable.
