First Thought Financial is a modern financial services firm dedicated to delivering exceptional mortgage, protection, and financial planning solutions. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious and customer focused Mortgage Adviser to join our expanding team.

You will be responsible for providing expert mortgage and protection advice to clients across a wide range of circumstances, including first-time buyers, home movers, remortgages, buy-to-let investors, and specialist lending cases.

The successful candidates will manage the client journey from initial enquiry through to mortgage completion, delivering a first-class customer experience while ensuring compliance with FCA regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct detailed fact-finding meetings to understand client needs and objectives.
Provide tailored mortgage and protection recommendations.
Advise on residential, remortgage, buy-to-let, new build, and specialist mortgage solutions.
Identify and discuss relevant protection products including life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, and family protection.
Maintain high conversion rates while ensuring suitable outcomes for clients.

Client Relationship Management

Build long-term relationships with clients and introducers.
Deliver excellent customer service throughout the advice process.
Maintain regular communication with clients, lenders, solicitors, estate agents, and other stakeholders.
Generate repeat business and referrals through exceptional service.

Case Management

Manage mortgage applications from submission through to completion with the assistance of full time mortgage admin.
Liaise with lenders and providers to progress applications efficiently.
Ensure all documentation is obtained and processed accurately.
Work closely with administration and compliance teams to ensure smooth case progression.

Compliance & Regulation

Ensure all advice is fully compliant with FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete client records.
Follow company procedures, compliance frameworks, and Treating Customers Fairly principles.
Complete all mandatory training and continuing professional development (CPD).

Business Development

Develop relationships with introducers, estate agents, developers, and professional partners.
Participate in networking and marketing activities.
Contribute to achieving individual and team business targets.
Promote the First Thought Financial brand positively and professionally.

Essential Requirements

CeMAP qualified
Proven experience providing mortgage advice within a regulated environment
Strong knowledge of residential and buy-to-let mortgage products
Understanding of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong sales and relationship-building ability
Ability to manage a pipeline of cases effectively
High level of professionalism and attention to detail

Desirable Requirements

CAS (Competent Adviser Status)
Experience advising on protection products
Experience with specialist lending cases
Existing introducer relationships
Full UK driving licence
