We are seeking a Boiler Operator to be responsible for the safe operation, monitoring and first-line management of steam and hot water boiler systems across the Weybridge estate.
The role focuses on maintaining plant availability, safety and performance while ensuring full compliance with statutory, contractual and insurance requirements.
Job Description
We are looking for an individual with strong technical and compliance knowledge of boiler operations who can work safely under permit and support inspections, water treatment regimes and ongoing plant integrity.
This is a niche role requiring formal boiler certification and a disciplined approach to safety, documentation and operational assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate steam and hot water boiler plant in line with SOPs and manufacturers’ instructions
- Monitor pressures, temperatures, water levels, alarms and interlocks
- Respond to abnormal plant conditions and carry out start-up, shutdown and emergency actions in line with EOPs
- Work in full compliance with PSSR, PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR and site rules
- Apply Safe Systems of Work, including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and Permit to Work arrangements
- Support statutory and insurance inspections, including WSE Part 1 and Part 2
- Carry out boiler water sampling, testing, logging and escalation of abnormal trends
- Maintain accurate logbooks, CAFM records and report defects, incidents and near misses
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- BOAS certificate as a minimum (expired certificates will be considered)
- Strong understanding of boiler compliance, maintenance and technical operations
- Experience completing PPMs and reactive corrective works on various boiler systems
- Knowledge or experience of steam boiler water testing and hygiene
- Beneficial but rare: BG01, BG04, I-Gas Awareness

- IOSH
- Fire Safety, Asbestos Awareness or Manual Handling
Development & Competence
