Full job description

Overview

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Boat Yard Mechanic to join our team. This is a hands-on role, including general boat yard duties. Customer facing, involving the maintenance, movement, and preparation of canal boats. The ideal candidate will be a qualified mechanic, physically fit, safety-conscious, and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with launching and moving boats within the yard.
Engine servicing and assisting engine installation
Carry out basic boat maintenance tasks, cleaning, sanding, painting, crane banksman and possibly welding.
Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, crane, high powered pressure washer etc (training provided where necessary).
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the boat yard and workshop areas.
Support with repairs and servicing work.
Handle tools, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow all health and safety procedures.
Assist customers and team members as required.

Requirements

Previous experience in a boat yard, marina, construction, or similar manual labour environment is preferred.
Experience in engine servicing and or install.
Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality is essential.
Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
Basic maintenance skills.
Forklift or machinery operation experience is beneficial.
Valid driving licence preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions

Full-time position 40 hour week, Mon – Fri 9-5pm
Self employed basis (sub-contractor)
No Bank Holidays or weekends
Outdoor and physically demanding work environment.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
