Job Summary
We're looking for a Workshop Machinist to join our busy in house workshop. As a Timber Workshop Machinist, you'll play an important role in creating high-quality timber products. You'll set up and operate woodworking machinery, read technical drawings, measure and cut timber accurately, and make sure every piece meets the required standards. You'll carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance, keep your work area clean and safe, and help reduce material waste wherever possible. Working as part of the workshop team, you'll contribute to meeting production deadlines while taking pride in producing quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Operate woodworking machinery such as panel saws, planers, thicknessers, crosscut saws, and CNC equipment.
Machine timber products to specified dimensions, profiles, and finishes.
Read and interpret production orders, technical drawings, and cutting lists.
Set up and adjust machinery for different production requirements.
Inspect timber materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on machinery and equipment.
Monitor stock levels of timber within the workshop.
Load, unload, and move timber products safely using appropriate handling equipment.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Comply with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and risk assessments.
Assist with bespoke machining requests and customer orders as required.
Work collaboratively with warehouse, sales, and delivery teams to meet customer deadlines.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Experience using workshop machinery (not necessarily timber)
Good understanding of timber products and machining techniques.
Ability to read measurements accurately and work to tight tolerances.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven track record of high level of customer service.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a timber merchant, joinery workshop, or manufacturing environment.
Forklift truck licence.
Experience with CNC woodworking machinery.
Relevant woodworking or machining qualifications.

Working Conditions
Based in a timber processing workshop environment.
Regular lifting and manual handling of timber products.

May involve overtime during busy periods.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.

Pay: £27,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
