Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Site Director to lead a complex manufacturing, production and warehouse operations. This is a high-profile leadership role requiring a commercially focused operational leader with a proven track record of improving business performance, developing high-performing teams and delivering sustainable operational excellence.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the site, driving operational excellence, developing talented people and contributing to the long-term growth of the organisation.
This role requires a visible, hands-on leader capable of operating strategically while remaining actively engaged with the day-to-day operation. This is an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of a significant operation where your leadership will directly influence business success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute an operational strategy aligned to the business objectives.
- Lead the site's operational transformation and continuous improvement agenda.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and customer excellence.
- Provide inspirational leadership to managers, supervisors and operational teams.
- Support business growth through scalable operational planning and capacity management.
- A key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to company-wide strategic decisions.
Full Operational Accountability
Take complete responsibility for all site activities including:
- Production Operations, Warehouse & Distribution, Planning & Scheduling, Inventory Management, Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Engineering & Maintenance, Customer Service Interface, Facilities Management and Operational Compliance
· Ensure operational performance consistently exceeds customer expectations while achieving business objectives.
Commercial & Financial Leadership
Own the site's financial performance, including:
- Full operational budgets, labour cost management, productivity improvement, margin enhancement, cost reduction initiatives, capital expenditure planning, return on investment analysis, forecasting and operational planning and Resource optimisation.
· Drive decisions based on commercial performance and operational data to maximise profitability.
KPI & Performance Management
Develop and manage a robust performance framework, including ownership of:
- Production Plan vs Actual, warehouse Plan vs Actual, labour efficiency, overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), OTIF (On Time In Full), customer service levels, Inventory Accuracy, stock turns, cost per unit, labour cost %, productivity, waste & damage, quality defects, health & safety metrics, employee engagement, absenteeism, continuous improvement savings, EBITDA Contribution, use data-driven decision making to identify opportunities, remove barriers and improve operational performance.
Leadership & People Development
Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary management team across:
- Production, warehouse, planning and logistics
Create a high-performance culture through:
- Coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, leadership development and employee engagement to build empowered teams capable of delivering sustainable business performance
Customer & Stakeholder Management
· Develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
Work closely with sales, procurement, finance and customer service to ensure:
· Exceptional customer satisfaction, reliable operational delivery, strong communication, effective demand planning and successful project implementation
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Champion a world-class safety culture.
Ensure compliance with:
- Health & Safety legislation, environmental standards, quality Management Systems, company policies, regulatory requirements
· Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and operational compliance.
In carrying out these responsibilities, you must comply with all legislative requirements and follow the Company’s Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety procedures and standards.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a senior operational leader
- Proven experience managing both manufacturing/ production and warehouse operations.
- Experience leading sites with 100 – 250+ employees.
- Track record of results driven and delivering significant operational improvement.
- Strong financial and commercial management experience.
- Experience managing operational budgets and capital investment.
- Demonstrated success in implementing lean or continuous improvement programmes.
- Experience in managing change within a growing business
- Highly commercial, customer focused and data driven. Decisive under pressure and an inspirational people leader
Essential
- Degree or equivalent experience in Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering or Business Management.
- Strong understanding of financial management and operational reporting.
Desirable
- Lean Manufacturing qualification.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Project Management qualification.
- MBA or postgraduate management qualification.
Pay: Up to £80,000.00 per year
