Food Laboratory Technician
This is an ideal opportunity for a school leaver or graduate to gain experience with in the scientific industry.
Key purpose of position:
* To assist in various duties within the microbiology laboratory
* To process samples in an efficient manner following appropriate methods
* To provide excellent customer service through accurate completion of work and on time Main duties will include but are not restricted to:
* Labeling samples and assisting sample receipt where needed
* Production of media
* Plate pouring with selective agar
* Completion of daily checks
* Collecting samples from storage locations in preparation for analysis
* Sample preparation (including accurate weighing and homogenizing with selective broths)
* Sample preparation and analysis for both microbiology
* Maintaining cleanliness within the laboratory Skills and competences:
* Educated to A Level or degree level or equivalent in Life Science subject or a related discipline* Candidates will have appropriate testing skills together and underpinning knowledge of microbiology and aseptic techniques
* Previous experience working within with the laboratory accredited to UKAS is desirable.
* Flexible in the approach to allocated tasks, a good attention to detail
* Good communication skills
* Basic computer skills - Excel, Outlook, Internet, Word
* The ability to work as an individual or as part of a busy team
Hours: Mon-Fri 9.30-5.30 (approx.) plus weekend rota
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.63 per hour
