Labfax is a leading supplier of labelling, barcoding and identification solutions, supporting customers across manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and healthcare throughout the UK.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a hands-on Technical Support & Installation Engineer to join our Service Team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine engineering, customer support and project management in a varied role where no two days are the same.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting a wide range of barcode printers, labelling systems, print and apply equipment and automated identification solutions.
This role goes beyond traditional field service engineering. You'll take ownership of customer installation projects from initial planning and site survey through to commissioning, customer training and final handover, ensuring every project is delivered professionally and to the highest standard.
Alongside installation work, you'll provide technical support both remotely and on-site, helping customers maximise the performance and reliability of their equipment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Installing and commissioning barcode printers, labelling systems and automation equipment.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Diagnosing faults and repairing equipment at customer sites and within our workshop.
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
- Supporting customers with software, networking and connectivity issues.
- Delivering operator training and post-installation support.
- Building strong relationships with customers through excellent service.
- Completing service reports, installation documentation.
About You
We're looking for someone with a practical engineering mindset, excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering great customer service.
You will ideally have:
- Previous engineering, field service or technical support experience. Not essential
- An understanding of IT systems, Windows environments.
- Strong fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays.
Experience That Would Be Beneficial
- Barcode printers and thermal transfer technology.
- Print and apply systems.
- Industrial automation equipment.
- Manufacturing or warehouse environments.
- Electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering qualifications.
Full Training Provided
Don't worry if you don't know our specific systems inside out.
We're looking for someone with strong technical aptitude, engineering experience and a willingness to learn. Comprehensive hands-on training will be provided on all Labfax equipment, software, installation standards and service procedures, giving you the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the role.
