Overview

Our horticultural business grows £3 million of bedding and patio plants per annum at our large 14 acre nursery near Martock, Yeovil. You would be part of a large nursery and retail store team training, learning and focusing on the growing of garden plants into the South West’s largest garden plant grower / retailer business.

This role is working alongside very experienced growers to supply our Joyners Plants Ltd products to our retail centres. Over our 60 years of trading we have gathered extensive experience in growing across a range of products which has allowed us to grow high quality and great value plants.

Capable of the care of plants
Good planning abilities to ensure consistent management of the range of products.
Good staff management abilities to organise your team effectively.
Flexible attitude to duties so you can assist across the nursery as part of the management team on a wider basis
Interest in commercial horticulture and growing of plants

Responsible For

Supervise the growing of young plants with a small team
Take control of the watering of plants and manager a team to do this.
Assist as needed with other nursery areas
Learn all about commercial horticulture from seedling to growing and then retail
This role requires you to be physically active all day on your feet and to carry out lifting and carrying consistently – it is a hands on position and applicants need to enjoy this type of work
Be part of a bigger management team and become integral to the most successful nurseries in the southwest of UK

Full training can be given to an enthusiastic applicant willing to learn quickly and who has the needed interests and staff management ability. Our business operates from five nurseries in the South West of UK and can offer excellent career opportunities. All hourly wage rates subject to successful completion of short initial trial period before we look to train and progress your career with us. We can offer fast pay rises and promotions for bright hard-working applicants with excellent career prospects as part of our 100 strong staff team across five horticultural garden centres located in Devon and Somerset. We are the largest grower / retailer of garden plants in the South West UK.
