About the role
Citizens Advice West Berkshire is looking to recruit a Money Adviser / Caseworker to join our advice team of specialist caseworkers and generalist advisers.
You will provide advice and casework to clients throughout the debt advice process. This will include dealing with emergencies, maximising income, providing budgeting advice and helping clients decide on a suitable debt strategy.
The role will include outreach work at different locations across West Berkshire. You will therefore need a full driving licence, access to a car and appropriate business-use insurance.
Contract type: Fixed term until 31 March 2027, with a possible extension of up to two years depending on funding.
The money advice process involves:
- Gathering all relevant information about the client’s circumstances and financial situation.
- Explaining the range of debt solutions available and helping the client make an informed decision about how to proceed.
- Acting for clients where necessary, including calculating, negotiating, drafting letters and making telephone calls.
- Preparing and presenting cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts.
- Negotiating with third parties in writing and by telephone.
- Using IT to maintain accurate case records and continuity of casework.
Experience and training
Training will be available to support continuous learning. We are willing to consider advisers with generalist or other relevant experience who would like to develop their debt casework knowledge and skills by completing the standard debt advice training programme.
