Role: Housekeeper
Location: Kingsthorpe Grange, Kingsthorpe, Northampton, NN2 8DT
Payrate: £12.71 per hour
Contracted hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern : Alternate weekend working required
We are looking for a Housekeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside qualified staff and line managers to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the Unit. They will be responsible for accepting delegated and designated duties and ensuring that all aspects of appropriate Health and Safety guidelines are met to provide a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Compliance with COSHH Regulations:
- Adhere to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations to ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Accurate Housekeeping and Laundry Paperwork:
- Complete housekeeping and laundry paperwork meticulously, following established policies and procedures. Accuracy is crucial for maintaining records effectively.
- Up-to-Date Mandatory Training: Ensure that personal mandatory training remains current. Regularly participate in training sessions to stay informed about best practices and safety protocols.
- Operational Standards: Stock linen cupboards and maintain their organization. Promptly report any damaged linen or clothing items to the head housekeeper and remove them from circulation.
- Garment labelling: Collaborate with care staff to label new residents’ garments appropriately. Clear labelling ensures efficient handling and prevents mix-ups.
- Monitoring Wash Results: Monitor wash results closely and promptly report any issues to the home manager. High-quality laundry services contribute to resident comfort and well-being.
- Resident Interaction and Feedback: Engage with residents, actively seek feedback, and make necessary adjustments to routines. Residents’ input is valuable for improving service quality.
- Laundry Equipment Operation: Operate washing machines and tumble dryers efficiently. Proper equipment use ensures effective laundry processing.
- Safe Handling of Cleaning Substances: Follow manufacturers’ instructions when using cleaning substances. Efficient usage minimizes wastage and maintains safety standards.
- Securing Laundry and Chemical Stores: Always lock the laundry and chemical storage areas when not in use. Chemicals must never be left unattended to prevent accidents.
- Safety Signage Implementation: Use appropriate safety signage when cleaning floors (e.g., “Wet Floors” or “Cleaning in Process”). Prioritize resident safety.
- Maintenance and Hazard Reporting: Report all maintenance and safety hazards promptly. If equipment is faulty, withdraw it from use immediately to prevent risks.
- Maintaining Cleanliness and Tidiness: Thoroughly clean all allocated areas, including dusting, vacuuming, and washing surfaces. Pay attention to windows, carpets, and furniture.
- Waste Management and Restocking: Empty and clean waste bins regularly. Restock essential items such as soaps and towels to maintain a comfortable environment.
- Infectious Illness Reporting: Immediately report any infectious illnesses to the home manager or the designated person in charge. Swift action helps prevent outbreaks.
- Promoting Safe Practices: Promote safe working practices within the residential home. Encourage adherence to safety guidelines among staff members.
