UCL is one of the world’s leading universities. UCL Innovation and Enterprise provides UCL’s structures for engaging with business for commercial and societal benefit. Innovation and Enterprise at UCL includes training in entrepreneurship; knowledge-exchange (KE); business and innovation partnerships; industrial-related and translational research; commercial research contracts; consultancy; student businesses; commercialization of intellectual property through spin-out companies; and licensing and product development.
Within this remit, UCL is committed to supporting the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) programme, a government-backed scheme which facilitates innovation in businesses. This scheme seeks to engage SMEs and large companies with UCL research, and to expose academics to a business environment. This benefits UCL by:
1. Increasing UCL’s research income and profile in London
2. Providing academics with a platform to engage with industry and be involved in enterprise activities
3. Creating impact from research
4. Creating new collaborations with local businesses who will be more likely to ‘give back’ to UCL by offering internship and/or employment opportunities to UCL students, engage in research, and speak positively about the university to their networks
As the KTP Programme Manager, you'll lead the growth and delivery of UCL’s KTP programme. You will also provide assistance to the Principal Partnerships Manager (High Growth SMEs) and Director of Strategic Innovation Partnerships, in delivering UCL’s innovation and enterprise strategy across all faculties within UCL.
You'll have a keen interest in supporting UCL academics to bring their ideas to life in industry. You will have experience in academia-industry engagement alongside experience of process or project management, and a proven track record of working with industry, supporting funding applications in partnership with academics. You'll also be a good problem-solver who is comfortable reaching out to teams across UCL to get things done as efficiently as possible.
