We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious Year Out / Junior Architectural Technologist to join our friendly and collaborative Sheffield studio. This role is ideal for someone who is keen to learn, grow, and contribute to a wide range of projects.
You don’t need to have all the answers yet. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your attention to detail, and your ability to work well as part of a team.
What you’ll bring
A genuine interest in technical design and how buildings are put together
The ability to communicate ideas clearly with colleagues and the wider design team
A basic working knowledge of Revit (we’ll support you to develop further)
A proactive, positive attitude and a desire to develop your skills
A commitment to continue your professional development training
What you’ll be doing
Working alongside experienced Technologists and Architects, you’ll gain exposure to different stages of the architectural process across UK and international projects.
Depending on your experience and confidence, you will support us with:
Developing technical drawings and details
Preparing information for planning and building regulations
Contributing to design coordination with consultants and clients
Supporting the production of detailed work packages
Learning about UK Planning, Building Regulations and CDM (we don’t expect you to know it all yet)
What we offer
This is a great opportunity to learn within an established, supportive studio with a strong one team culture. You’ll be surrounded by people who enjoy sharing knowledge, encouraging development, and helping early‑career colleagues build confidence and capability.
We’re looking for someone who is motivated, open‑minded, and excited to grow into the role, not someone who already has everything mastered.
We provide a friendly studio environment, an award-winning Lifestyle Package, and a commitment to your personal development through the HLM Academy. We are also a 100% Employee Owned Trust, which means our employees have a sense of ownership, a say in our direction and are rewarded for the part they play in our future success.
Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging matter deeply to us. We want everyone to feel welcome and supported to thrive. If you need any adjustments to the application or interview process, just let our HR team know and we’ll be happy to support you.
If you think this role could be for you, please send your CV and examples of your work.
Those shortlisted will be contacted.
