About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Rental Mechanical Technician to join our rentals team within the workshop on a permanent staff basis. This role will be predominantly workshop based but may also involve working on-site, onshore, offshore or internationally.
The role will support the build, preparation, servicing, mobilisation and demobilisation of Brimmond rental equipment, including hydraulic power units, reelers, control panels, filtration/flushing equipment, pumps, pressure test equipment, marine equipment and associated mechanical systems.
The successful candidate will also support Brimmond’s NetJet high-pressure water pump units, used within the aquaculture sector for offshore net cleaning. This will include mechanical assembly, inspection, maintenance, fault finding and testing of high-pressure pump systems, diesel engine-driven packages, filtration systems, control interfaces and associated pipework and components.

Apprentices (Year 1 – 4)
Responsibilities
- Taking responsibility for the workshop phase of the build, assembly, and testing of new equipment
- Assembly and testing of hydraulic power units, reelers, control panels and associated equipment which may be diesel, electrical or pneumatically driven
- Mobilising and demobilising a range of hydraulic and mechanical equipment
- Spooling hydraulic umbilical
- Refurbishing and maintaining hydraulic and mechanical equipment
- Fault finding and diagnosis of mechanical equipment
- Mentoring and developing more junior team members
- Ensuring your workspace is kept safe, clean, and tidy
- Ensuring that company policies are followed, and deadlines achieved
- You may occasionally be required to work overtime at short notice
- Embrace the group QHSE objectives and play an active part in maintaining and improving workshop procedures, processes, and safety
- Ensuring workshop job packs are completed accurately and to a high standard
- The ability to use own initiative, and to be able to work individually or as part of a team.
Requirements:
Essential
- Driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for the job
- Take pride in your work and have an attention to detail
- Time served in a mechanical, hydraulic or other suitable engineering discipline
- Experience of hydraulic and mechanical systems
- For those applying for Level 1 Technician roles: Time served within a mechanical apprenticeship
- For those applying for Level 2 Technician roles: 3-5 years after serving time, experience within a mechanical technician / mechanic / service technician / fitter role
- Competent in:
- Assembling / fitting hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Servicing of equipment
- Reading and understanding general assembly drawings.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own workload effectively to meet deadlines as is necessary
- Communicates effectively with internal and external contacts in a professional manner
- Works effectively within a team or other work group as appropriate.
Preferred
- HNC or HND qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Ability to understand hydraulic schematics .
- The ability to compile accurate and coherent service reports.
- Experience with high-pressure water pumps, plunger pumps, triplex pumps or pressure washing / water jetting systems.
- Experience with diesel engine-driven equipment, ideally marine or offshore packages.
- Knowledge of filtration systems, duplex filters, seawater/freshwater systems, valves, manifolds and pressure safety valves.
- Experience working with aquaculture, marine, offshore, rental or field-service equipment.
- Familiarity with KAMAT pumps, Scania engines, control panels,.
- Water jetting or pressure systems training/certification would be advantageous.
Pay: £28,600.00-£41,600.00 per year
