Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, including those with dementia and Alzheimer's. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in senior care by creating a vibrant and supportive environment. Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or senior care is highly desirable, along with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for caregiving.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
- Organise individual and group activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities, including dementia and Alzheimer's care.
- Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation from all residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ interests and needs, ensuring activities are personalised and meaningful.
- Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken and resident participation.
- Adapt activities as necessary to accommodate residents' changing health conditions or preferences.
- Promote communication among residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and participation opportunities.
- Ensure all activities adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices in senior care.
Qualifications
- Experience working within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care principles is highly advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with elderly residents.
- Demonstrated organisational skills to plan and coordinate diverse programmes of activities.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous caregiving experience or relevant qualifications in eldercare or activity coordination would be beneficial but are not essential. Pay: £12.70-£12.71 per hour
