About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer with a curious mindset, a strong analytical approach who enjoys solving complex problems, building reliable systems, and taking ownership of high-quality software delivery.
You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering agile software that underpins safety-critical and industrial condition monitoring products. You’ll work in a collaborative Agile environment, contributing not just code, but ideas helping shape solutions, improve engineering practices, and influence how our products evolve.
This is a place where new ideas are encouraged, and where you’ll have every opportunity to grow, innovate, and shape our software approach.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Design, Development & Implementation
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality software solutions aligned with product and engineering requirements.
- Review user stories, specifications, and designs to ensure clarity, feasibility, and technical completeness.
- Implement features using appropriate engineering principles, tools, and methodologies, following agreed standards.
- Contribute to system design activities, including architecture discussions and technical decision‑making.
- Set up, configure, and maintain development environments, build pipelines, and supporting infrastructure.
Technical Engineering & Continuous Improvement
- Apply relevant software engineering practices to support high‑quality product development.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets internal standards and industry best practice.
- Select and apply appropriate technologies, frameworks, and techniques to deliver effective engineering outcomes.
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain systems, tools, and processes that support the wider software development lifecycle.
- Actively contribute to improvements in engineering practices, automation, tooling, and ways of working
Problem Solving & Quality Delivery
- Identify technical issues, analyse root causes, and develop effective, timely solutions.
- Promote improvements to engineering processes, methodologies, and design patterns to improve long-term maintainability
- Ensure software meets quality, security, performance, and safety expectations.
- Produce clear technical documentation and communicate risks, issues, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
Leadership, Collaboration & Agile Delivery
- Take ownership of work within Agile sprints delivering incrementally and supporting others where appropriate.
- Break down work items, estimate effort, and contribute to planning to support iterative delivery
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering, product, and supporting functions.
- Work closely with technical leadership to meet project objectives and business goals.
- Maintain a strong customer focus, ensuring delivered solutions meet real user and operational needs
Professional Development
- Maintain and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to enhance technical expertise.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, engineering practices, and industry trends.
- Apply ethical, safe, and sustainable engineering principles in all development activities.
About you
You’re passionate about software engineering and motivated by building high-quality, dependable systems that make a real-world difference. You approach challenges with a strong analytical mindset, breaking down complex problems and making sound technical decisions.
You take ownership of your work, care about code quality and maintainability, and understand the value of well-designed, well-tested software. You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and are comfortable contributing ideas and constructive challenge.
You’re adaptable and pragmatic, able to balance delivery with continuous improvement. Experience with industrial or embedded systems, condition monitoring, Agile delivery, or tools such as Atlassian Cloud would be beneficial, but not essential. What matters most is your engineering mindset, your curiosity, and your desire to contribute and grow.
Whether you’re an established Software Engineer or ready to step up into a role with more responsibility and influence, this position offers meaningful technical challenges and genuine opportunities to develop.
