Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and values driven Senior Finance & Credit Control Officer to join our team on a maternity cover basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing credit control processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the organisation’s financial operations. - To provide timely information and support technical matters and control issues, offering solutions as required.
- Ensure all daily financial transactions, including those relating to payroll partners are accurately processed and end of day reporting ran timely and successfully. Also ensuring the maintenance of the purchase and expenses ledger and payment authorisations are made in a timely manner.
- Maintaining bank accounts and transferring of money’s between accounts to maintain minimum liquidity thresholds, maximising interest returns where possible and adhering to policies around counterparty risk.
- Maintain key Credit Union systems including the IT system, banking system and other systems as required.
- Processing and payment of Invoices and expenses in a timely manner and in line with delegated authority limits, ensuring all relevant systems are kept up to date.
- Promote continuous improvement by:
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant guidance
- Ensure quality and consistency of financial information
- Promoting governance and risk management awareness and the maximising of resources to improve value for money.
- Provide debt recovery services to BDCU members. Optimising the Credit Unions systems and adhering to policies and procedures including the monthly submission of the credit reference agency file, in a timely manner.
- Responsible for credit control mail, emails and telephone requests and instructions from and to members and supporting the Finance & PR Lead with any additional cover across daily tasks, as required.
- Ensure the Bradford District Credit Union’s credit control processes are correctly accounted for in line with legislative requirements and the Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in service delivery meetings with third party providers and ensuring they are operating within their SLA.
- Provide regular reporting and supporting the Finance & PR Lead at key reporting times, such as month end and year end including supporting with internal and external audits.
- Continually look to improve our credit control service delivery in line with best in practice to further improve the effectiveness of recoveries and member experience and maintaining policies and procedures with the support of the Finance & PR Lead.
- Creating and implementing Policy & Procedural changes and documentation for BDCU with the support of the Finance Lead and ensure these are regularly reviewed and updated or generated to ensure compliance.
- Support & supervise team, may require supporting in or conducting staff 1 to 1’s. Formulate training plans including progression & succession planning. Resource planning for the team and cover arrangements for holidays and sickness.
Experience
- Proven experience in a similar finance or credit control role within the financial services sector or related industries
- Proficiency in accounting software including Xero
- Proficiency with daily finance and month end processes
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable processes
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills for liaising with members and internal teams
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently

Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
