Leo Group is one of the UK’s leading specialists in animal by-products and renewable energy. We play a critical role in the food and agricultural industries collecting and processing material – which is converted into wet petfood ingredients, meals and oils for use in pet food, cosmetics, chemicals and renewable fuel.
As we continue to grow and develop our operations, we are looking to enhance our Quality Management department by appointing a Quality Technician for our wet petfood site based in Halifax.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the field, however, training will be provided for the right candidate who is willing and eager to learn.
This is a factory based position and does not involve much lab work.
Overall purpose of the role
To co-ordinate and control QC functions throughout the Petfood business and ensure that product entering and leaving the premises meets the specifications laid down in the operating and quality procedures.
Main duties and responsibilities
- ·Ensure the QC function is carried out effectively at all levels and in line with the documented operating procedures
- Develop strong lines of communication with the planning, operations and quality team to optimise planning, production and quality and information flow
- Develop and maintain out of specification results procedure
- Collating information from QC checks and laboratory analysis to data spread sheets
- Ensure out of specification results are acted on immediately and that senior staff are kept informed of the actions taken
- Offer creative input into process improvement as part of continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure QA function is carried out effectively in line with quality systems and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
- Other duties as directed by the Quality Manager

Pay structure
Day shift and nights shifts schedule. 48 hours per week, overtime available.
