About us

What's Cooking is a popular café, deli and caterer in the thriving market town of Thame, with an excellent reputation for exceptional food, outstanding service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We are passionate about food, coffee and people, and enjoy using fresh ingredients to create memorable dishes.

The role

We are looking for an experienced, committed, and versatile chef, who is able to work to high culinary standards across different sections. If you are a strong team player who enjoys a varied role, this could be the perfect job for you.

We would also welcome applications from senior chefs looking for a role with a greater work-life balance, who can bring ideas, leadership, and a proven ability to influence the direction of the kitchen. The role and package could be tailored for the right person.

Key responsibilities

Preparing breakfast and brunch dishes, for service in the café.
Preparing salads, pastries, savouries and oven-ready meals for our deli.
Preparing a broad range of dishes for our outside catering.
Taking ownership of your section, including stock control and quality control.
Food hygiene, health, and safety compliance, and general housekeeping.

What we are looking for

Passionate about great food and motivated by quality standards.
Versatile and able to work to high standards across different sections.
Self-motivated, pro-active, calm, organised and efficient.
Positive and professional, with a strong work ethic.
A strong team player, with a flexible and ‘can do’ attitude.
Sound working knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety procedures.
Available to work five days out of seven, including weekends.
