As a Process Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering team at the Littelfuse manufacturing site, supporting the optimisation, control, and continuous improvement of semiconductor manufacturing processes. You will have a particular focus on process capability, yield, and device performance, particularly within diffusion, thermal processing, and related semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Working closely with Product Yield Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and EH&S, you will take ownership of assigned processes, proactively identify improvement opportunities, and drive robust, high-yield manufacturing performance through data-driven analysis and structured problem solving.
About the Job:
Take ownership of assigned semiconductor manufacturing processes, with particular focus on diffusion, thermal processing, metallisation, and related manufacturing processes.
Optimise and control process parameters to ensure stable, capable, and repeatable manufacturing performance.
Develop, refine, and maintain process recipes using data-driven experimentation and analysis.
Monitor process performance through SPC (Statistical Process Control) and report key process yield and performance metrics.
Analyse process, electrical, metrology, and yield data to identify trends, process variation, yield loss mechanisms, and opportunities for improvement.
Investigate production issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, A3, or similar techniques.
Take a proactive approach to identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving process-related issues, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
Work independently to drive improvements while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
Support process qualifications, process changes, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing capability and product performance.
Collaborate closely with Product Yield Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and EH&S to ensure robust process performance and alignment across manufacturing activities.
Develop, review, and maintain process documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), process instructions, risk assessments, and COSHH documentation.
Support the development of training materials and provide technical guidance to technicians and operators on assigned processes and equipment.
Communicate process performance, technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to the Engineering Manager and wider stakeholders.
Contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives and support continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing site.
About You:
HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
Experience within a semiconductor manufacturing or advanced manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret process, yield, electrical, and metrology data to drive process improvements.
Experience using SPC (Statistical Process Control) and other data analysis tools to monitor and improve process performance.
Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, 5-Why, or similar.
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) would be advantageous.
Good understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, particularly diffusion and thermal processing would be an advantage.
Knowledge of metallisation processes and exposure to thin film deposition techniques (such as e-beam deposition) would be beneficial.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated, organised, and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
Comfortable working independently while contributing positively within a collaborative engineering environment.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement experience would be advantageous.
