Brief History of the charity and Community
Established in 2001, the charity was formed to support the needs of a small but diverse Muslim community in Winchester, a historic city that was once the capital of England. Over the years, the community has steadily grown, bringing together families, students, and professionals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. In 2024, the charity achieved a significant milestone by purchasing its own building, securing a permanent home for the only Masjid and Islamic Centre in Winchester.
The Centre now serves as an essential place of worship and a vital hub for community gatherings, education, and social support. Centrally located near the train station and the town centre, it is easily accessible to residents and visitors alike. Despite the community’s growth, there is an absence of halal grocery stores within the city, with the nearest ones located approximately 15 miles away in Southampton
