Job Title: Plant Operator
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To operate mobile plant to move and load aggregates and materials into various streams as directed by the Operations Manager using a Loading Shovel with other duties form time to time.
Experience of operating a loading shovel is a minimum requirement.
JOB PARTICULARS
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.00am – 5.30pm, including ½ hour lunch break unpaid
(Contracted hours – 50 hours per week)
Saturday working on request 7.00-12.00 noon (5 hours at time and a half)
Holiday Entitlement: 31 days (Incl Public Holidays & 3 days compulsory Christmas shut down)
All holiday dates to be agreed with Manager
Location: Canford Recycling Centre, Arena Way, Wimborne, Dorset BH21 3BW
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
: Scott Hooper Operations Manager – Canford Inert
Key Accountabilities, Responsibility & authority
1. To operate mobile plant to move and load aggregate types using Loading Shovel.
2. To ensure that the highest levels of recycling are maintained at all times.
3. To assist in the day-to-day operations of the site, in accordance with Environmental Permit and operational conditions.
4. To assist with the loading of material for onward processing/recycling off site.
5. The ability to work under pressure is essential.
6. To provide excellent levels of customer service.
7. To use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for each task, and to store and maintain PPE appropriately.
8. To maintain good housekeeping and assist in keeping the site tidy. (i.e. sweeping, litter picking, cleaning up spills, etc).
9. To carry out basic site maintenance on plant and equipment (E.g. Cleaning, greasing, washing, digging out).
10. To act in a safe and responsible manner around customer vehicles, and company mobile plant.
11. To follow Manual Handling guidance and training at all times, and to seek help if the task requires assistance.
12. To report any incidents, accidents, near miss or damage to the Site Foreman/Manager immediately.
13. To report any Health & Safety concerns to the Site Foreman/Manager immediately.
14. To sign in and out each day to ensure the Daily Work Record is kept up to date and accurate.
15. To provide sufficient support of colleagues within the Operations Department.
16. Ensure that the policies of the company are adhered to at all times.
17. To comply with current company Health & Safety Policy.
18. To maintain and improve Health & Safety standards.
19. To comply with environmental legislation.

Skills, Knowledge and experience
· Must hold in house training certificate at a minimum
· Enthusiastic and committed person capable of working with others.
· A good team player.
· Physically fit and capable of carry out manual tasks. (i.e. lifting, Sorting and carrying)
