We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow to play a pivotal role in undertaking an observational clinical cohort study at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be based in the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health research in the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. You will work closely with local project partners at Oxford Vaccine Group, Department of Paediatrics, and in the Modernising Medical Microbiology research group, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
We are undertaking an ambitious and exciting research study to define human immunity against E. coli, in order to guide vaccine development. We seek a motivated clinical research fellow to play a pivotal role undertaking an observational clinical cohort study at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will have responsibility for overseeing the execution of the clinical aspects of the study and perform varied activities including being responsible for advertising, recruiting, screening and conducting study visits. You will manage clinical data, perform analyses and prepare reports and presentations. Your research focus is understanding how humans respond to E. coli in health and disease, and you will receive training in laboratory immunology techniques to analyse the blood samples collected in the study, building knowledge of the immunology of susceptibility to E. coli, urinary tract infection and bloodstream infection. The team is also studying immunity to Staphylococcus aureus in patient cohorts and you may be asked to assist with this too.

You will work with project managers, post-doctoral scientists, study statisticians, nurses, IT, data mangers and other Clinical Research Fellows and will be involved in development of study protocols and essential documents needed in the preparation and submission of ethics and grant applications and study delivery.
It is essential that you hold a medical degree and are GMC registered. You must be currently qualified and licenced to practice medicine in the UK. You must have experience in working for the NHS as a doctor (having completed at least both NHS foundation training years). It is also essential that you have a proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
