*Annex 21* - Training Programme

Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid a 75% of the top of Band 6 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6 scale.

The Role

Process a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Microbiology using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples.

Provides advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to appropriateness of tests and time-scales.

Responsible for own work and uses specialist training to operate complex equipment and solve problems.

Acts as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participates in training /supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.

In this key role, you will:

Responsible as a state registered Biomedical Scientist for providing a high standard of patient care: Required to work independently.
Adherence to policies and procedures relevant to all areas of work in accordance with Departmental, Directorate, Hospital and regulatory requirements.
Acts as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participates in training /supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical laboratory .

What You'll Bring:

State registration with the Health Professions Council is mandatory.
BSc honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent, which is acceptable for Health Professions Council registration.
Formal evidence of specialist knowledge of a range of discipline specific procedures.
Evidence of continuing professional development, for example, a specialist portfolio of development, attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice.
