About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Floor Layer to join our refurbishment team, working across social housing properties throughout Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing flooring to a high standard across kitchen and bathroom refurbishment programmes.
This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment, so we are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and able to work efficiently while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship.
The Flooring You’ll Be Installing
The role will primarily involve:
* Flat lay vinyl sheet flooring
* 300mm x 300mm vinyl floor tiles
* Kitchen flooring
* Bathroom flooring
* Preparation of floors prior to installation
* Latex/self-levelling where required
* Cutting and fitting around sanitaryware, units, doorways and other obstacles
* Sealing and finishing flooring to a high standard
* Identifying unsuitable or defective substrates and reporting issues
* Completing snagging and remedial works when required
Key Responsibilities
* Complete flooring installations within kitchen and bathroom refurbishments.
* Prepare substrates correctly before laying flooring.
* Ensure floors are clean, dry, level and suitable for installation.
* Accurately measure, cut and install vinyl sheet and vinyl tiles.
* Produce clean, professional finishes around toilets, baths, units, door frames and other fixtures.
* Work efficiently to programme and meet agreed completion dates.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship across every property.
* Complete snagging and rectify defects promptly.
* Keep properties clean and tidy throughout the works.
* Work safely and comply with company RAMS and Health & Safety requirements.
* Liaise with Site Supervisors and Project Managers regarding progress and any technical issues.
* Work respectfully within occupied and vacant social housing properties.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
* Proven experience as a Floor Layer.
* Experience laying vinyl sheet flooring.
* Experience installing 300 x 300 vinyl tiles.
* Good knowledge of floor preparation.
* Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
* High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
* Good understanding of Health & Safety.
* Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card – specifically required.
* Reliable and professional approach.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to work to programme and meet deadlines.
Van / Transport
A van and full set of flooring tools would be highly advantageous and is the ideal situation for this role.
The successful applicant should be able to travel between properties across Birmingham and surrounding areas with their tools and materials.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands that quality is just as important as speed.
You should be able to walk into a property, assess the floor, identify any preparation requirements and complete the installation to a professional standard without constant supervision.
Experience working within social housing refurbishment is highly desirable.
We are particularly interested in flooring contractors who have experience working on multiple properties per week and are comfortable working to a programme.
