Oat & Olive is looking for a talented, dependable Chef to join our friendly bistro team in the heart of Alnwick. We serve fresh, thoughtfully prepared food in a relaxed and welcoming setting, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, consistent standards and genuine hospitality.

The Role

As Chef, you will help deliver an excellent dining experience by preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, maintaining an organised kitchen and supporting the smooth running of each service.

This position would suit someone who takes pride in their cooking, works calmly under pressure and enjoys contributing ideas in a close-knit independent business.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard.
Support menu development, including daily specials and seasonal dishes.
Complete food preparation efficiently and manage your section during service.
Maintain excellent standards of presentation, portion control and consistency.
Follow food safety procedures, including allergen management, temperature checks and accurate record-keeping.
Monitor stock levels, minimise waste and assist with ordering and deliveries.
Keep the kitchen clean, safe and organised at all times.
Work closely with front-of-house colleagues to provide smooth, timely service.
Contribute positively to a respectful, supportive team environment.

What We Are Looking For

Previous experience working as a Chef, Chef de Partie or experienced Commis Chef in a busy kitchen.
A genuine passion for fresh, well-prepared food.
Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety and allergen procedures.
Good organisation, time management and communication skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A reliable, flexible and professional approach.
Confidence working under pressure while maintaining high standards.
A recognised food hygiene qualification is desirable.
