We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support our business. This is a hands-on role where you will take lead on our Integrated Management System (IMS), maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and relevant legislation, while driving a culture of continual improvement and sustainability across the organisation.
You'll manage and deliver IMS and sustainability requirements directly, carry out audits, drive corrective and preventative actions, support our ESG agenda, and make sure compliance and improvement work is embedded across every department. You'll work closely with Directors and Project Managers day to day, acting as the go-to person for health ans safety guidance and support.
Key responsibilities
Governance & compliance — Manage the IMS end-to-end, including document control, compliance registers and process reviews. Coordinate internal HSEQ and Sustainability meetings and Management Reviews, ensuring actions are tracked to close-out. Act as the business's principal advisor on HSEQ and sustainability matters, reporting updates, KPIs and risks to the Directors. Promote a proactive safety and sustainability culture across the business and supply chain.
Integrated Management System — Keep the IMS compliant with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Maintain version and issue control of all IMS documentation. Carry out internal audits, track nonconformities, and support external ISO surveillance and recertification audits. Maintain the legal compliance register and drive continual improvement projects.
Health, safety & environment — Develop, implement and review H&S policies, procedures and risk assessments. Conduct site inspections, audits and accident/incident investigations. Report on safety and environmental KPIs. Maintain COSHH, DSE, Fire Safety, Asbestos and other statutory registers. Support Directors and Project Managers with Health & Safety Plans, CPPs and CDM documentation.
Training & competence — Maintain the company Training Matrix, identify training needs, coordinate delivery, and run induction training for new starters. Review subcontractor competence and compliance records.
Project-based responsibilities — Manage project H&S files, statutory site information and subcontractor RAMS/competence checks.
Administration — Handle the day-to-day administration of the HSEQ function, including document control, waste and carbon reporting, SSIP accreditation submissions (CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline), subcontractor monitoring, site inspections, and client KPI/PQQ compliance evidence.
Qualifications
NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent is required. Recognised equivalents include an NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (Levels 4–6), an NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety (Level 6), or a BSc in a Health and Safety–related discipline (Level 6).

Proven experience managing IMS, ISO compliance, sustainability and ESG reporting within a construction or M&E environment. Confident and self-sufficient, comfortable owning the H&S function and influencing change without a team behind you. Detailed knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. A proactive, analytical, solutions-driven approach with a genuine commitment to continual improvement. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage confidently across all levels of the business and supply chain.
