About the Role
PYR Market Technology Solutions Italia is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team in Birmingham.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, maintaining accurate vendor records, resolving payment queries, and supporting timely payment runs. You will work closely with procurement, finance, operations, and external suppliers to ensure invoices are approved, coded, and paid accurately.
This position is ideal for someone with practical accounts payable experience who enjoys working in a structured finance environment and is comfortable managing a high volume of transactions while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing: Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct coding, approval, and supporting documentation.
Purchase Order Matching: Match invoices against purchase orders and goods-received records and investigate discrepancies before payment.
Supplier Account Management: Maintain accurate supplier records, banking details, contact information, payment terms, and account documentation.
Payment Runs: Prepare and support scheduled supplier payment runs in accordance with internal approval procedures and agreed payment terms.
Supplier Reconciliations: Reconcile supplier statements against the accounts payable ledger and investigate missing invoices, credits, duplicate charges, or unmatched transactions.
Query Resolution: Respond professionally to supplier and internal payment queries and resolve invoice or account discrepancies promptly.
Expense Processing: Review employee expenses, receipts, and supporting documentation in line with company expense policies.
Credit Notes: Process supplier credit notes accurately and ensure they are correctly allocated against outstanding balances.
Month-End Support: Assist with month-end closing activities, including accrual information, AP ledger reviews, reconciliations, and outstanding invoice reporting.
Aged Payables: Review aged creditor reports and investigate overdue, disputed, or unusual balances.
Internal Controls: Follow company approval procedures, segregation-of-duties controls, and fraud-prevention practices when processing payments.
Record Keeping: Maintain complete and organised electronic records of invoices, approvals, statements, payment confirmations, and supplier correspondence.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: At least 2–4 years of experience in accounts payable, purchase ledger, finance administration, or a similar transactional finance role.
Accounts Payable Knowledge: Strong understanding of invoice processing, purchase-order matching, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, and credit notes.
Accounting Systems: Experience using systems such as Sage, Xero, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar finance platforms.
Excel Skills: Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, transaction reviews, reporting, and basic data analysis.
Accuracy: Strong attention to detail when processing invoices, checking supplier information, and handling financial transactions.
Organisation: Able to manage high transaction volumes, multiple supplier accounts, and recurring finance deadlines.
Communication: Confident communicating with suppliers, procurement teams, managers, and other internal stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Able to investigate invoice discrepancies, duplicate charges, missing approvals, and supplier account issues independently.
Confidentiality: Comfortable handling sensitive supplier, payment, banking, and commercial information responsibly.
Qualifications: AAT studies or another accounting qualification are advantageous but not essential where strong practical experience can be demonstrated.
Mindset: Reliable, methodical, proactive, and comfortable taking responsibility for completing accounts payable tasks accurately and on time.
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
